Your words, your choices
Privacy policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
Pinny It is developed by Steven Comeau. This policy explains how the app handles the information you choose to read, save, practice, or share. Contact subtextlanguage@gmail.com with privacy questions or requests.
Reading and saved content
Basic text recognition and supported built-in translation run on your device. Text, translations, chats, tags, contact notes, chosen photos, restaurant orders, and learning activity that you save are stored locally in the app. Quick Reader captures your screen without adding that screenshot to Photos; other apps may detect a screen capture. Translation history is a separate local feature that you can turn off or clear.
Optional AI enhancement
Where available and enabled by you, AI enhancement sends the selected text and included context or notes through Pinny’s service to OpenAI to generate a response. The current AI text feature does not send screenshots. Avoid including sensitive information that is unnecessary for your request. Requests also involve technical connection information and usage accounting so the service can operate and enforce its allowance.
Pinny’s current AI service does not intentionally save message contents in its own application storage or logs. This is not a promise that service providers retain nothing: infrastructure and AI providers process information under their own terms, security practices, and retention policies. See OpenAI’s privacy policy and Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
Voice and permissions
Speaking practice uses on-device speech recognition and does not save practice recordings. Camera, photo, microphone, speech-recognition, and notification permissions are used for the features you choose. You can manage permissions in iPhone Settings. Supported voices and language resources may need to be downloaded from Apple.
Purchases and Apple services
Apple processes App Store purchases. Pinny uses purchase-entitlement information to determine Premium access; Pinny does not receive your full payment-card details. Apple also handles its own download, payment, and backup services under Apple’s privacy policy.
Support and information you share
If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you send, such as your message, an optional screenshot, and app or device details. We use this information to respond, investigate issues, and review suggestions. Your saved content is not automatically attached. Support correspondence is retained as needed to handle your request and related issues; you can ask us to delete it, subject to any applicable legal obligations.
Backups, deletion, and your choices
You control whether to export a backup or share content with another app. Exported files and device backups are handled by the services and locations you choose. You can delete saved items and translation history in Pinny. Deleting the app removes its local app data, but exported backups and emails must be managed separately. A separate Pinny It account is not required.
This website
These support pages do not include advertising trackers, analytics scripts, or a contact form. Following the email link opens your email app; following an external link takes you to that provider. The hosting provider may process technical connection information to deliver and protect the site.
Changes and questions
We will update this page when relevant app features or data practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision. To ask about access to or deletion of information you have sent us, email subtextlanguage@gmail.com.
